[Faculty] It's Annual Review Time!!

Good afternoon and Happy Friday!

With this email, I am officially kickstarting the Annual Review Process. UofA requires that all faculty appointments receive a performance review once yearly.

The overall process remains largely unchanged. We will use Faculty Portfolio (formerly UA Vitae) to convey our 2025 accomplishments.

What I am asking you to do NOW:


  1.  Log into Faculty Portfolio. Just log in to make sure that it works. Even if it worked perfectly last year, don't make any assumptions. Please check: https://facultyportfolio.arizona.edu/  If you find that you can't log in, email me and we can fix it right away.



  1.  Once you've logged in, check the data that has been pre-populated by the UofA - mainly publications and teaching. Make certain that this is accurate. The teaching for fall 2025 has not yet been populated but I will email you when it's time to check on that data. If anything is inaccurate, email me and we will work with UCATT and the UA Vitae team to get it fixed. HINT - when we do see inaccuracies, it is most often associated with co-taught courses - so please check these carefully.



  1.  Take a look at the CV Templates attached. You may recall that the UofA has made our annual reporting far easier by letting us convey the majority of our work by uploading this completed CV. Use of this CV is NOT required, but if you plan to go up for promotion anytime in the next few years, you will save yourself a LOT of work by using this template for annual review - it is the same template/information required for a promotion dossier. NOTE that the template changes slightly year-to-year based on faculty input, so use this copy (dated December 2025) for your annual report.


Looking forward - you will be getting notice from your Unit Head with a deadline for submission of your annual report. This is usually at the end of January or early February - but it is up to the Unit.

All annual reports will be peer reviewed at the Unit level and final reviews will be completed by your Unit Head. Unit Heads will then schedule one-on-one meetings with anyone at assistant rank. Some Units Heads also choose to meet with associate rank faculty. If you do NOT have a one-on-one meeting scheduled in March with your Unit Head but you would like to have one, please request this from your Unit Head in writing.
