[Faculty] Simons Foundation Ecology and Evolution Collaborations Opportunity

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to bring to your attention and exciting funding opportunity from the Simons Foundation that could be relevant to several folks in our college.

The Simons Foundation's collaborative funding model brings together interdisciplinary teams to tackle fundamental scientific questions.

Its Life Sciences division is now soliciting vision statements for new Ecology & Evolution Collaborations<https://www.simonsfoundation.org/grant/simons-collaborations-in-ecology-and-evolution/?utm_source=Simons+Foundation&utm_campaign=be283a8b1a-2026_LS_COLLABS_IN_ECO_%26_EVO&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-dea4c45f3e-746269491> focused on basic ecological and evolutionary dynamics-especially bold, cross-scale projects that other funders may deem too risky.

Funded projects are interdisciplinary and multi-institutional. Letters of Interest will be reviewed, provided feedback, and a subset will be invited for full proposals.

Each selected team will receive five years of support (with one renewal possible) at $1-4 million USD per year (up to $8 million total annually across 1-3 awards, including 20% indirect costs).

Key dates:
*          Letter of Interest (LOI) available August 4, 2025;
*          LOI deadline October 16;
*          Full-proposal invitation March 2, 2026;
*          Full-proposal deadline April 30;
*          Finalist presentations the week of December 7;
*          Award notifications February 1, 2027;
*          Funding begins April 1, 2027.
*          Eligible PIs hold a Ph.D., faculty appointment, and institutional research space;
*          Submit LOIs via the Simons Award Manager.
