ALVSCE Colleagues,
The University of Arizona (UA) National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Certifications now require renewal every four years.
This change from having no renewal requirement is being pursued to maintain the highest standards of research integrity and ensure researchers stay current with evolving ethical standards and best practices.
Who is required to complete RCR Certification?
All individuals working on an NSF or NIFA grant are required to complete the corresponding RCR Certification every four years. Individuals funded by both NSF and NIFA should complete the NSF Certification, which includes a required mentorship training.
How can people check their training status?
Users should log into EDGE Learning and search for the appropriate Certificate in the search bar: NSF Responsible Conduct of Research Certification or NIFA Responsible Conduct of Research Certification. Under the certification title they will see one of three status messages:
* "This certification is not in your plan": You are not enrolled in the Certification and should register and complete the web-based trainings within 30-days, if you're working on an NSF grant.
* "In Progress": You are registered and need to complete any outstanding trainings.
* "Acquired": You have completed the training requirements and can "Print Certificate" to view your completion and expiration dates. The EDGE Learning system will send an automated email with instructions on how to renew your training.

Kind regards,
Jon
