UA Colleagues.

I invite you to join a webinar presentation and discussion at 2:00 pm on January 8 regarding a new initiative at the University of Arizona, namely the Arid Lands Animal Production (ALAP) Initiative. ALAP is a coordinated teaching/research/extension initiative that is enabled by three new or newly remodeled facilities. The new Animal Feeding Facility will be built at the Campus Farm on Campbell Avenue and will be an enclosed building, allowing for research on ruminant nutrition, emissions, and bioenergy. We will be able to capture and measure emissions, as well as utilize the waste in an anerobic digestor. The Food Product and Safety Lab is being remodeled, modernized, and expanded by 40%. Additionally, a second new meat processing facility is being built in a public/private partnership in the Camp Verde, AZ area. These new facilities were made possible thanks to a $30M appropriation from the State of AZ.

The goal of ALAP is a multidisciplinary approach to seeking opportunities and solving problems related to animal production, especially in arid environments. We desire faculty from across campus to be engaged in these activities. Please join this webinar to see how you can be part of this new initiative! (see attached flyer)
