Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the ALVSCE Senators (Melanie Hingle, Duarte Diaz, and Bobby Torres), we invite you to attend the upcoming Faculty Senate Meeting, which will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Old Main Silver and Sage Room.

You may join via Zoom using the link provided below. This meeting provides an excellent opportunity for faculty members to receive updates from key university leaders.

Agenda Highlights:

  *   Call to Order and Approval of the Agenda with Vice Chair of the Faculty, Mona Hymel.
  *   Approval of Minutes from the November 4, 2024, meeting.
  *   Open Session featuring remarks from Fiona Bailey, Senator Adriana Grijalva, and Senator Lucy Ziurys.
  *   Statements and Reports from the Chair of the Faculty, Leila Hudson, and the Provost (topic TBA).
  *   Action Items:
     *   Consent Agenda led by Graduate Council Co-chairs Philip Waddell and Sanlyn Buxner, including proposals for new degree programs: MS in AI for Business, MEd in School Counseling, and PSM in Resilience Practice.
     *   Non-consent Agenda led by Undergraduate Council Co-chairs Joost van Haren and Lisa Rezende, focusing on undergraduate transfer credit policy proposals and benchmarking.
  *   Old Business, including:
     *   Updates from the ad hoc Committee on Campus Climate (Matthew Abraham, Chair).
     *   Discussion of a Draft Resolution on Speech: Rights and Responsibilities (Leila Hudson, Chair).
     *   IT Centralization Data Request (Leila Hudson and Senator Lucy Ziurys).
  *   New Business, including:
     *   Faculty Workload discussion led by Secretary of the Faculty, Katie Zeiders.
     *   Update on Arizona Online Initiatives presented by Interim Senior VP Gary Packard.
     *   Consideration of alternative voting software for university elections (Senator Lee Medovoi).
     *   Shared Governance Review Committee update (Senator Russell Witte).
  *   Written Reports from various university committees, including the APPC, RPC, SAPC, DEI, and others.

The meeting will conclude promptly at 5:00 p.m.
