Good afternoon,

By now, those of you who are preparing dossiers for promotion or retention this year have been informed OR have confirmed with their unit head that you will be submitting this year.

The next steps:

  * PLEASE take the time to view the training(s) appropriate to your dossier. These trainings do an excellent job in broadly covering what might be expected in various sections of your dossier.
  * Also - review the Guide to the Promotion Process for your track: Continuing Status and Tenure Track<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/2023-03/2023-24%20Guide%20to%20the%20Promotion%20Process%20for%20CSP%20and%20PT.pdf> or Career Track<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/2023-03/23-24%20Guide%20to%20the%20Career-Track%20Promotion%20Process.pdf>. I guarantee you that this guide will become your BEST FRIEND in the next months. The guidance is explicit and very detailed.
  * If you are an instructor, please make certain that you have a Peer Review of Teaching completed (see attached) - the review has to be from fall 2022 or spring 2023.
  * If applicable to your case, please provide your unit head with a list of potential external reviewers and collaborators who may provide letters of support. You can NOT request these letters yourself; the requests must come from your unit head. Familiarize yourself with the UA policy on who is a collaborator:

collaborators are defined as individuals who have co-authored books, articles, abstracts, or grant proposals within the last five years. Collaborators also include individuals who have been a candidate's dissertation advisor, mentor, supervisor, or close coworker in a lab, department, or residency program, even if this occurred more than five-years prior to the review.

Starting this week and through the end of June, I will be offering twice-weekly "promotion office hours" for faculty to ask questions about dossier preparation and review. These office hours will be on:

                        Wednesdays, 9 to 10 AM
                        Fridays, 4 to 5 PM

                        Zoom address: https://arizona.zoom.us/j/2279458173

These office hours (via Zoom) are "open," meaning, there may be other people in the room. If you have a private matter that you would like to discuss, please reach out to make a one-on-one appointment.

I will also be providing a half-day promotion workshop during the week of May 22nd. This will be an in-person event and is designed to address any remaining questions that you may have. More information will be provided soon.
