[Faculty] Fw: Strategies for succeeding in 7 week courses

Everyone,

Like other units on campus, CALS is teaching an increasing number of course sections in abbreviated time frames, especially the 7.5 week courses utilized by AZ Online.  For many students, especially our main campus students, these compressed courses have a tendency to catch students unaware of the time required to keep current, relative to our normal full-semester courses.  Students are behind before they realize it, due to the increased tempo of the course (same amount of material, covered in a shortened time frame).

 Our UA SSRI team put together what I found to be a very helpful communication (especially the graphic) to alert students to be ready to move at a faster pace when the term starts. Check out the message and link below.  This went out to all students enrolled in 7-week courses.  I'm passing it along in case you haven't seen and can make use of it in your classes.  Because full-semester students may consider taking 7-week versions of their courses, even if they aren't enrolled in AZ Online, this may be a good message to weave into your discussions with all students, especially around registration time.
