[Faculty] More Information and Guidance about Course Modalities

Everyone,

Attached is a memo I prepared for all the academic unit heads and CALS advising team members.  Several unit heads asked that I distribute it to their faculty.  Several unit heads may have done this already, so apologies if this duplicates what you've already received.

Bottom line:  We are entering the final stretch of preparing for classes to resume on August 24, with much uncertainty still swirling.  One thing we do know:   classes will start on Aug 24.   No delayed start is being discussed at any level.

However, there is still a strong possibility of an online start (or mostly online, with exceptions for labs and other classes that are difficult to convene remotely) for several weeks.  I wish I could be more definitive, but the UA seems determined to retain as much flexibility as possible for as long as possible, rather than locking in.   I know this makes it tough on our teaching faculty, and it probably is frustrating parents/students across the country.

Maybe we'll get a stronger statement regarding "opening day" at this week's Re-entry Briefing.
