Everyone, please see below and attached a message from Sonia Shiri Associate Professor and Middle Eastern Languages Coordinator, SBS School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies. Especially for those involved in international work, human gene evolution, primatology, human and other animal communication, human health and wellness, genome and genome-product annotation, computation in the biological sciences and ontologies to name just a few of the top of my head, this may be of interest. Dear colleagues,



I'm writing to inform you of an exciting initiative to build a campus-wide, interdisciplinary Institute for Language and Innovation at UA.  The institute would be hosted under Research Discovery and Innovation (RDI) to support collaborations across disciplines and across colleges at UA and with external partners.  I was hoping that faculty from CALS will join others from the Colleges of SBS, COH, Science, Education and Engineering  in contributing to the working proposal that is under review by RDI. Please take a look at the attached draft mission of the institute and get in touch for more information.



I'll be happy to explore with you ways in which this initiative might be of interest to CALS faculty and students so we can include that information in the proposal in the next week or two.
