[Faculty] NAS Prize in Food and Agriculture Sciences

The NAS Prize in Food and Agriculture Sciences<http://nasonline.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=336a8a9fd57586606519c8958&id=8128acc6a2&e=2572f2973c> recognizes research by a mid-career scientist at a U.S. institution who has made an extraordinary contribution to agriculture or to the understanding of the biology of a species fundamentally important to agriculture or food production. For the purpose of the prize, areas of science with applications to agriculture include plant and animal sciences, microbiology, nutrition and food science, soil science, entomology, veterinary medicine, and agricultural economics. The recipient will be awarded a medal and a $100,000 prize.

"Mid-career" scientist is defined as up to 20 years since the completion of his or her Ph.D.

Nominations for awards scheduled for presentation in 2017 are now being accepted.
Nominations will be accepted online at https://awards.nasonline.org/ through Monday, October 3, 2016.

Nomination requirements may vary by award. However, the following items must be submitted for all awards:

  1.  A letter from the nominator describing the candidate's work and why he or she should be selected for the award. No more than three (3) pages.
  2.  Curriculum vitae. No more than two (2) pages.
  3.  Bibliography listing no more than twelve (12) of the nominee's most significant publications.
  4.  Suggested citation. No more than 50 words.
  5.  Letters of support. Two (2) letters are required. Support letters must be written by individuals from institutions outside both the nominator and the nominee's institution.

NAS membership is not required to nominate candidates or to be considered for an award. Please help spread the word that the nomination process is underway!
