The University of Arizona Libraries<http://new.library.arizona.edu/> and the Center for Open Science<http://cos.io/> will be hosting two "Workshops for Increasing Openness & Reproducibility in Quantitative Research" this spring. Participants will learn easy, practical steps to increase the reproducibility of their work. The workshops will be hands-on and, using example studies, attendees will actively participate in creating a reproducible project from start to finish.
Topics covered:
* Project documentation
* Version control
* Pre-Analysis plans
* Open source tools like the Center for Open Science's Open Science Framework<https://osf.io/> to easily implement these concepts in a scientific workflow.
These workshops are aimed at researchers and graduate students engaged in quantitative research. The workshop does not require any specialized knowledge of programming. Participants will gain a foundation for incorporating reproducible, transparent practices into their current workflows.
The first, general, workshop will take place Thursday, April 21st, at 9am-12pm in 112A Computer Classroom, Main Library<http://uanow.org/nrzL>. Please RVSP<https://docs.google.com/a/cos.io/forms/d/19AizvSnLeWtvXyNnN8tYZvSBjJq9rP2FWOlgHJUsajs/edit> as space is limited. Participants can bring their own laptops, but computers will also be available. The second workshop, focusing on clinical and biological case studies, will take place Friday, April 22nd at 9am-12pm in B109, Roy P. Drachman Hall<http://uanow.org/t4AK>. Again, make sure to RVSP<https://docs.google.com/a/cos.io/forms/d/1qYkdNuWYdjEd91R9r9zkpdOFMM1c788tqaKhxaqdKRY/edit> as space is limited! Participants for the second workshop will need to bring their own laptop. We're asking participants to RSVP by April 4th.
