The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation invites nominations for the 2016 Sloan Research Fellowships<http://arizona.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=369ae3aeae&e=db7a664467> to be awarded to researchers in recognition of distinguished performance and unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field. Fellowships support fundamental research by early career, tenure-track scientists and scholars with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in chemistry, computational or evolutionary molecular biology, computer science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, ocean sciences, physics, or a related field. Nominated candidates are normally below the rank of associate professor and do not hold tenure. The Sloan Research Fellowship provides $55,000 for a two-year period. The UA may submit up to three nominations per department.

Interested investigators that meet the eligibility criteria<http://arizona.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=c7ebd8807b&e=db7a664467> are asked to submit a pre-proposal to their deans for referral to the Office for Research & Discovery by the internal deadline. Pre-proposals will include a one-page research statement and a two-page biographical sketch.

Important dates:

  *   College/Institute review internal deadline: On or about August 13, 2015. Please consult with your Dean's/Director's office for specific date.
  *   Office for Research & Discovery internal review deadline: August 20, 2015.
  *   Sponsor Deadline: September 15, 2015.
