The Office for Research & Discovery is accepting pre-proposals for the NIH Shared Instrumentation Program (S10). The program announcement can be found at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-15-088.html<http://arizona.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=bf53324650&e=9deae42247>. Multiple proposals may be submitted, provided each is for a different type of equipment and adequately addresses the points below.

Pre-proposals should include:

  *   Name and biosketch of the PI on the application.
  *   Brief description of the instrumentation and its application.
  *   Instrument budget including on-going support costs for sustained operation. Should the total purchase cost exceed the maximum allowable by NIH ($600,000), provide sources of additional support.
  *   A sustainable plan for operating the instrument, including on-going technical support, service contracts and maintenance, and other operational costs. In what university core facility will the instrument be administered and housed? Special-purpose instrumentation housed outside of university core facilities can be allowable with justification of specialized need, sharing, and business plan.
  *   A list of major users, which must include at least 3 NIH PIs.
  *   A description of how the instrumentation will increase the UA’s ability to compete for grants & contracts, and how it will enhance NIH-funded research programs.
  *   If there is similar instrumentation on campus, how the UA will benefit from duplication.
Please submit pre-proposals (no more than two pages plus budget, operating plan, and 4-page biosketch) to Connie Garcia (garciac1 at email.arizona.edu<mailto:garciac1 at email.arizona.edu>) by, February 27, 2015.
