*********************************************************************************
Good Afternoon,
The Science and Resource Management (SRM) Division at Padre Island National Seashore is recruiting an interdisciplinary natural resources management position (GS-0401/1301; permanent, full time), and the first of two recruitment announcements is live on USA Jobs now. The application is open to the first 75 applicants or will close on 7/10/2020, whichever comes first. Please see: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/572066600 and note that this announcement is for a GS-11 direct hire authority recruitment open to all qualified US citizens.
While there is only one position available at PAIS, it will also be announced separately on USA Jobs as a GS-9 position with a full performance level of GS-11, and I'll send out that link when it is available (hopefully, within the next week). There are two announcements for one position because our recruitment is being combined with two other parks in the region. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to both announcements.
The SRM Division has responsibility for managing the Seashore's cultural and natural resources, including more than a thousand species of wildlife and plants, cultural landscapes, wetlands, coastal prairie, and submerged archeological resources, among many others. The Division facilitates scientific research, performs integrated pest management tasks, and completes various compliance requirements, such as consulting with regulatory and cooperating agencies, completing environmental analyses, and determining effects of proposed actions on the park's cultural and natural resources. Padre Island National Seashore is one of a handful of National Park Service units that permit oil and gas operations, and the SRM Division coordinates their permitting and compliance, as well. Learn more about the park by visiting our website at https://www.nps.gov/pais/index.htm
A barrier island separating the Texas mainland from the Gulf of Mexico, Padre Island is a dynamic, engaging environment in which to work. Most park staff reside in nearby Corpus Christi, Texas, with a metro area population of ~450,000. Recreational opportunities include outdoor pursuits such as windsurfing, fishing, and beachcombing, and the area has diverse opportunities for shopping and visiting art galleries and museums. Learn more about Corpus Christi by visiting their website at https://www.visitcorpuschristitx.org/index.aspx
Please share this opportunity widely and encourage all qualified candidates to apply. Thanks!
Always,
Shelley
