Dear Directors,
I wanted to provide an update to those who were unable to attend our meeting with Government and Community Relations on July 11th. To summarize the main takeaway, notify GCR before you extend an invitation to, or formally engage with, a state or federally elected official. Ensure you remain non-partisan in your official capacity and direct questions regarding policy, funding, or legislative efforts to GCR. This process ensures that you and the university are protected.
Furthermore, if you're attending a meeting where you know state or federal representatives will be present, it may be helpful to contact GCR in advance. They can often provide background information that could support your presentation or interaction. While this is not required, it can be beneficial. It is also important that you reach out to GCR if you’re unsure about a University of Arizona policy or guideline. Attached is a guideline to refer to should you have any questions, need assistance, or would like to contact anyone in GCR. I ask that this not be posted anywhere but made available to your faculty and staff.
We plan to connect with GCR soon to discuss the possibilities of seeking funding for FY27.
Regards,
Ed
