1. H5N1 Impacting Dairy
In the West - California, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming are currently impacted.
>From Michelle Rodgers
Cooperative Extension has been provided some funding and people resources to work in the area of H5N1. Attached is a PowerPoint presentation that was shared with extension directors and/or their designees in the 14 states currently impacted in dairy with H5N1, which is the focus of this project. This will provide a brief background on what efforts are being made on a national system level under the EXCITE umbrella.
Urgent items:
The EXCITE H5N1 Extension program leadership team is having a listening session of all dairy agents in the impacted states next week and we are requesting that you provide the following information to them and encourage them to participate. Their involvement will guide the development of needed resources in the format desired and also make sure the content addresses the issues that dairy agents are hearing in the field. Please invite them to attend one of these listening sessions and provide input. The funding focuses on dairy farmers but if states are addressing this across all livestock areas, all are welcome to attend.

Please hold December 12 from 2-4 Eastern for a H5N1 national professional development webinar when all of the developed materials will be shared and national experts will provide insights. A registration link is forthcoming.
We encourage each state that has already developed any H5N1 educational materials to share them with the two individuals working on program content.
