I just saw the following three employment and externship announcements in Dr. Ayman Mostafa's e-newsletter and wanted to circulate them through my pesticide courses and resources listserv, as well. There are several opportunities (including undergraduate and high school externships) for people interested in extension programs focusing on Field Crops Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Urban Agriculture, and outreach to new farmers in Maricopa and Pima counties.

We are seeking TWO full-time Program Coordinator positions to develop and implement priority Extension and applied research programs for both Field Crops IPM and Urban Agriculture and Beginner Farmer Programs (the Programs). The Program Coordinator (Community Outreach Professional I) will plan, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate programs in cooperation and under the faculty's supervision. Specific activities may include planting, cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting from the demonstration and research sites, planning and coordinating training events, developing curriculum, teaching, developing Extension publications and other outputs, coordinating and assisting with field demonstrations, identifying program priorities, and evaluating program impacts.

Externship Opportunities for Undergraduate and High School Students for the Urban Agriculture Production and Field Crops Team
The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Urban Agriculture Production and Field Crops Team is seeking undergraduate and high school students for an externship program for the summer, and other time of the year, as available. This Externship program is intended to provide students with real-world experience addressing issues of sustainability and technology of agriculture production in urban and rural communities in Central Arizona. Qualified externs are required to devote at least 10 weeks and 30-35 hours per week of work. There are opportunities for stipend for this Externship at University of Arizona' minimum wage rate for qualified students. Students who are not qualified for these stipends will receive honorary toward purchasing needed supplies for their study. These Externships will provide students with unique opportunities to learn about agricultural practices, local sustainability issues, technologies in agriculture, as well as engaging with local stakeholders to meet the needs growing need of food and fiber in our community. Externs will work directly with and be supervised by UArizona Cooperative Extension faculty and team in the area of urban agriculture, field crops, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), help with building website, social media and data entry and analyses, and agriculture production and technology. Every effort will be made to match students with a project that enriches their experience and understanding of agriculture production, sustainability, and technology in Arizona. The Externship is not limited to any particular degree areas.
Externship responsibilities may include:
* Work in the project location for the duration of the program.
* Report to Faculty supervisor and team personnel on a daily to weekly basis.
* Work with Faculty supervisor and team personnel to implement steps of scientific methods to achieve internship goals.
* Develop self-paced plan to build background, involve in current education and applied research activities, and engage of Extension events of the program.
* The Intern will be provided with help to develop evaluation criteria and metrics to measure outcomes as well as knowledge gained through implementation of project.

The UArizona Cooperative Extension Pima County is hiring a continuing eligible Assistant/Associate Extension Agent to work with a dynamic team of professionals developing and delivering community outreach programs that provide research-based, objective informal agriculture and natural resources education. The primary focus of the position will be to develop and deliver education and assistance to small-scale and urban growers in Pima County, Arizona. In addition, the agent will engage and collaborate with urban food systems work conducted at the Pima County Cooperative Extension (PCCE), The Garden Kitchen, and 4-H farm-focused youth workforce development at PCCE Tucson Village Farm.
