ALVSCE Leaders,

Sharing the opportunity to recognize excellent employees who go above and beyond.  The Award for Excellence is a campuswide recognition and selected by peers.  It is the most distinguished award available to staff.  Your nomination means a lot and is highly appreciated.  Please note the deadline highlighted below.

Nomination letters should demonstrate how the nominee goes above and beyond their expected job duties.  Specific examples of how the nominee’s actions positively impacted others and benefited the mission of the institution are especially moving.

Please consider nominating a great colleague in your unit.

The University of Arizona Awards for Excellence recognize the achievements of University and Classified Staff. Nominations for the 2024 awards are open now. The University of Arizona Award for Excellence (Individual)

Presented to approximately nine members of University or Classified Staff regardless of their length of service, classification or pay grade. These awards are designed to recognize outstanding achievements and accomplishments in the position.

The Billy Joe Varney Award for Excellence
Presented to one University or Classified Staff employee with at least 15 cumulative years of employment at the University who merits special recognition for a career of dedicated service to the University, its employees, and the community.
The University of Arizona Team Award for Excellence
Presented to a team comprised primarily of University and/or Classified Staff tasked with a specific project or function. The award will be presented in recognition of the team's outstanding contribution to its unit, department, or the University as a whole.
The Center/Department/Institute Award for Excellence
The Center/Department/Institute Award for Excellence will be presented to a single organizational unit in recognition of its outstanding excellence in the management of its people and resources. The awarded Center/Department/Institute will receive a commemorative plaque.

These honors, apart from the Center/Department/Institute Award for Excellence, include a university-funded monetary award and must be based on achievements that go above and beyond normal duties.
