Message from the
State AZ 4-H Program Leader
Dear 4-H Families,
Happy November! November is a month for giving thanks and gratitude. As we look forward to the 4-H year ahead I am continuously grateful for each and every volunteer that provides dedicated service to the youth of Arizona. I hope that you also have a chance to reflect and focus on gratitude for the blessings in your life. A couple weeks ago I was able to share a cup of coffee with Oliver Anderson, a long-time Arizona 4-H volunteer from Pinal County who has also provided many years of service as the President of the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation. When I asked him what he was most proud of in his time of service he said “the young person that says thanks in the grocery store.” And, when we asked volunteers last year through the end-of-year program evaluation about the perceived benefits of 4-H service: 78% of volunteers reported interpersonal relationships and 62% reported a sense of purpose was a benefit. Whatever your perceived benefit, I hope you know you are valued, and you will take time to give thanks for the benefits you get out of 4-H.
With appreciation,
Jeremy

End of Year Program Evauation Is Coming!
Arizona 4-H is excited to be on the cutting edge of program evaluation. We are using 4-H Thrive Model evaluation questions and project knowledge questions to inform our statewide program improvement strategies, and you can help us! In the next two months your county-based 4-H professionals will send you (volunteers) and 4-H youth members a survey. We hope that you will encourage your 4-H families to complete the survey so we know how we are doing in creating youth turn their spark into mastery!
