budget update
A DRAFT of the year’s projected vs. actual budget:

  *   Auxiliary revenue was hardest hit due to the loss of in-person activity. Auxiliary units that were partly supported by student fees (Campus Health, Bookstores, etc.) did better than those entirely dependent on sales revenue. The Student Union and Athletics were hardest hit.
  *   The University restructured its debt, which helped Auxiliaries.
  *   Year-over-year increases were largely due to the downturn in FY 20 (due to the pandemic hit) and thanks to support from Federal stimulus funding.
  *   Our current revenue generation is insufficient to sustain us without increased activity or reduced expenses.
  *   Our Days Cash On Hand is now projected at 160 days (our goal is to be above 150 days).
  *   The shaded areas, above, are Federal stimulus programs.
  *   All indicators are strong for Fall 2021 enrollments.

The Financial Sustainability Taskforce reconvened in February and has provided recommendations:

All pillars had cuts or were completely paused during the pandemic. Strategic Plan funding for FY22 will be similar to FY21.
(Health Sciences initiatives have been integrated into the University Plan.)
