Subject: [heads] Sending on behalf of Provost Folks | International Travel Process Update

Good Afternoon- I am sending the below message on behalf of Provost Folks
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share updated international travel procedures to streamline the approval process. Effective immediately, changes in the international travel registration and review process are as follows:

  *   Proxy Registration:
     * At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, proxy registration was suspended. Proxy registration has been reinstated to allow department personnel to complete travel registration on behalf of faculty and staff traveling internationally. Students must still register their own travel in the Global Travel Registry<https://ua-risk.terradotta.com/>.

  *   Travel Review Process
     * Former essential designation requirement suspended:
        * Deans and department Head/Chair/Directors (H/C/Ds) are no longer required to deem all travel essential before Global Travel completes their review. However, if the travel is considered high or extreme risk by an independent security provider or the International Travel Safety and Oversight Committee (ITSOC), the dean and department H/C/D will still need to assert that the travel is deemed essential.

     *   Repeat Travel:
        * If a traveler opens a new travel registration for a location and general travel purpose that the University has previously approved and there is no change in the risk level of the destination, neither ITSOC review nor Department H/C/D nor Dean approval will be required, separate from the Travel Authorization Form<https://www.fso.arizona.edu/travel>.
     * The University may require travel review by ITSOC and department H/C/D or dean approval if the general risk is deemed high or extreme by an independent security provider.

As a reminder, all travelers are strongly urged to follow international travel CDC guidelines<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/international-travel-during-covid19.html> and in the course and scope of their role at the University must continue to register trips in the Global Travel Registry<https://ua-risk.terradotta.com/>. Please see the changes to the University international travel guidelines<https://global.arizona.edu/travel> and contact Global Travel<mailto:uaglobaltravel at arizona.edu> with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Liesl Folks
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
