Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University System, is a public land grant university located 45 miles northwest of Houston, Texas, the nation's fourth-largest city. It has an enrollment of more than 8,000 students and offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. The University's target service area for undergraduate, graduate and outreach programs includes the Texas Gulf Coast Region; The rapidly growing residential and commercial area known as the Northwest Houston Corridor; And urban Texas centers.

Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) and the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS) invite applications for the position of Associate/Full Professor & Executive Associate Director, Cooperative Agricultural Research Center. This position will be held at the Associate Professor or Professor level with tenure. Reporting directly to the Dean and Director of Land Grant Programs, this position is responsible for the oversight and management of the daily operations for Cooperative Agricultural Research Center (CARC). The successful candidate will serve as the chief operating officer for CARC to ensure the implementation of the NIFA Plan of Work; Builds and further develops interworking relationship with Extension and Research employees to ensure relevance, impact and alignment with stakeholder needs; Provides management, oversight and direction of the daily operations of the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Farm and ensures that the farm is in compliance with the College University, System and Federal policies; Provides transformative leadership, focus, an entrepreneurial spirit and strategic initiatives that direct CARC and the farm into the future through progressive, positive change; Coordinates with the Dean and Director of Land Grant Programs in planning and implementation of integrated research and outreach programs to meet NIFA objectives; Represents the organization at national, state, TAMUS, and local functions as required and approved; Coordinates, supports and encourages cost-effective strategies/methods for professional development of all faculty and staff; Conducts annual performance evaluations for CARC support staff and makes recommendations for improvement or changes as warranted; Interacts closely with the Associate Dean for Academics, Executive Associate Director for the Cooperative Extension Program, and the PVAMU Office of Research.; Assists the Dean and Director in developing and monitoring research budgets for Evans-Allen capacity funding and for externally-funded research projects; Promotes the use of digital and other future-oriented technology in the delivery of programs and for farm management; Initiates and fosters effective relationships, partnerships, collaboration and agreements with academic and other units within the University that have complementary vision, missions and goals to advance the tripartite land-grant mission.


QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must have a Ph.D. and ten (10) years of experience in a related field to also include five (5) years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate must have strong, practical knowledge of marketing and advertising skills. Effective leadership, managerial, and supervisory skills are essential. The ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; Excellent customer service, public speaking, and interpersonal skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; And knowledge of University processes and procedures are also essential for this position.

Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the appointment is made.  It is preferred, however, that all nominations and applications be submitted prior to July 15, 2021
