Unit and Business Leaders,
On February 28, I requested unit business officers take the initiative to review and update the Continuity of Operations Plans (COOPs) within their unit. Due to the spread of COVID-19, but valuable in any emergency situation, senior UA leadership requested COOPs be updated and submitted by March 17. To ensure all units have a current COOP, please send an electronic copy to Mary Carroll<mailto:Mary%20Marcelle%20-%20Carroll%20%3cmarymcarroll at email.arizona.edu%3e> in addition to submitting it electronically to UAPD.
Lane Spalla from UAPD will present on COOPs at the Business Community meeting March 25 (unfortunately after the due date). Unit leaders may be interested to participate in this meeting via Zoom. Please obtain the Zoom information from your business officer.

SUBJECT: Request to Update Your Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) by March 17
We are writing today to ask you to ensure that the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is up to date for your division, college, department, and/or unit. As part of our emergency management plan, your documented COOP ensures that the essential functions of our academic, research, and business enterprises can continue to be performed during a wide range of incidents, including localized acts of nature, accidents, and technological or attack-related emergencies.
We are also requesting your assistance in communicating this message throughout the leadership within your unit.
While you should be reviewing your COOP annually, and also whenever you have changes in mission-essential staff, with the news about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) this is a valuable time for each of our units to reassess and submit an updated plan.
To support you in updating your COOP and to ease a plan's retrieval during an incident, we recently moved the process to an online portal which can be accessed through the Critical Incident Response Team website (cirt.arizona.edu) under Resources/Plans, along with a sample completed plan (see links below).
Please submit your updated COOP by Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and then share the information within your area.
Please also encourage your students, faculty, and staff (along with family and friends of the University) to sign up for the UAlert emergency notification system. In an emergency, this is our most efficient and timely method to communicate with our University community. To sign up for UAlert, go to alerts.arizona.edu and follow the prompts.
