EAT & CEDs,
Please refer to this email exchange between Melanie Hingle and myself regarding some concerns recently expressed by an Extension faculty member based at MAC. This faculty member is expressing concerns regarding sanitation, cleanliness, and safety measures being provided for off-campus facilities, such as experiment station sites and all of our county Extension offices.
I know that we all easily agree on the importance of cleaning and sanitation measures that will be necessary whenever we begin to transition back into work in our facilities for the safety of all employees. We do not know when or how these transitions will take place but we do know that it will likely be coming soon and we all need to give some thought on how to manage this process.
For now, I encourage each of you to give this consideration and begin to communicate immediately to all faculty and staff in your units that you/we recognize the importance of workplace safety and we will make sure that all appropriate measures are taken to ensure that. This message should be included in the communications to your unit's personnel beginning this next week.
We will include this as a topic of discussion in our zoom session on Tuesday, 28 April at 11 a.m. Malcolm Green, Humberto Hernandez, and Randy Norton are welcome to join us for that session if they would like to do so. Kristie Gallardo will provide the contact information for the Zoom session for us all.
I appreciate your cooperation and consideration of these issues.
Best regards,
Jeff

Good morning Melanie,
Thank you for passing this along, I appreciate it. As you know, the faculty at these sites such as MAC are Extension faculty and I can appreciate the concerns
expressed here.
We are working with the center directors to manage these local operations and also coordinating joint communications with faculty and staff.
We will most definitely follow up on this issue but it is fully consistent with every other location we have across the entire state in every county and on each of our experiment station sites where Extension personnel are based.
Thanks again for sharing.
Best regards,
Jeff

Subject: Extension question on the faculty Discourse forum
Hi Shane and Jeff
This question came through the faculty Discourse forum last night, and I wanted to pass this along to you both in case it informs future communications to your Extension colleagues. If you have specific information you'd like me to pass along back to this person, I certainly can.
>From a faculty member at Maricopa County Ag Center:
"I am currently at an off campus University of Arizona facility. I have very little confidence that any additional cleaning and sanitizing measures have been put in place at our location or at any other location since the recommendations came out from facility management on campus. I am very wary to send any of my students or staff back into a university facility when directed to, unless i can be assured that enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures are put into place at ALL University of Arizona properties and not just on main campus.
What can we do to instill confidence that the University is actually working to keep us safe upon return? The last thing we need to an "all clear" for a staggered return to campus (both on and off), and then have an influx in cases because policies are not being followed for proper cleaning and sanitizing, glove, or mask use, etc"
Thanks
Melanie
