Deadline:     March 22

Request for Exhibitor Nominations
The 2019 Agricultural Research Congressional Exhibition and Reception will be held at the Rayburn House Office Building Cafeteria from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on May 15, 2019. Also, a small number of exhibitors may be asked to participate in additional congressional events to complement the evening’s agriculture exhibition and reception.

The Organizing Committee (NCFAR a participant) is now accepting nominations of exhibitors to present their work at this event.

The nomination deadline is March 22, 2019. Please use the following link to submit your nomination:

This is a self-sustaining, community-funded event. Contributions of $1,000 per team will be welcomed upon notification of participation. Sponsoring organizations will be fully responsible for exhibitor travel expenses.

Co-sponsorship opportunities are available for organizations that would like to provide financial support for the event. If your organization would like to learn more about sponsorship or you have any further questions, please reach out to us (contact: Tyrone Spady, tspady at aspb.org<mailto:tspady at aspb.org>).

Feel free to share this opportunity with others who may be interested.

Exhibitors selected to participate will be notified within two weeks of the submission deadline.

Additional Information

The objective of the event is to promote the value and importance of food, agricultural, and natural resources research, extension, and education to Congress and the administration. This creates a venue to showcase the breadth of agriculture researchers’ fantastic innovations.

Each exhibitor (or team) will be afforded a six-foot-wide space and a table. Exhibitors must use free-standing pop-up style posters, as poster boards will not be available and there will be no other means to display traditional posters. We welcome the participation of USDA-supported exhibitors from all career stages, from graduate students to tenure-equivalent researchers from academic, government, corporate, and private research institutions. Again, all exhibits must showcase USDA-funded research.

At the 2018 Agricultural Research Congressional Exhibition & Reception, seven members of Congress, including then–House Agriculture Research Subcommittee Chairman Rodney Davis (IL-13), then Ranking Member of House Ag Appropriations, and USDA Research, Education, and Economics (REE) agency leadership interacted with 36 agriculture research exhibitor teams representing institutions across the country, diverse disciplinary areas, and all of the USDA REE agencies. This event continues to be a success and has a positive effect on congressional members and staff.

This event will provide a great and unique opportunity to

  *   Highlight the diversity of USDA-supported innovative and cutting-edge research and projects;
  *   Demonstrate the value of USDA-supported food, agriculture, and natural resources research, extension, and education;
  *   Recognize and cultivate congressional champions;
  *   Facilitate the development of congressional relationships with local food, agricultural, and natural resources constituent researchers, agency leadership, and staff;
  *   Communicate the national and local value of this federally funded food, agricultural, and natural resources research to key decision makers;
  * Educate congressional leaders and staff and focus their attention on funding for federal food, agricultural, and natural resources research, extension, and education; and
  * Build community support for delivering a unified message in support of USDA research.

In reviewing applications, the Organizing Committee will seek to maximize disciplinary, programmatic, and geographic representation.

As part of the nomination submission process, sponsors will be asked to provide the following information:

  1.  Sponsoring university or organization,
  2.  Disciplinary area(s) of exhibit,
  3.  USDA program funding sources,
  4. 100-word nontechnical description of proposed exhibit,
  5. Lead presenter’s brief biography, including professional society affiliations (if applicable),
  6. Sponsoring organization primary contact information, and
  7. Lead presenter’s contact information (including professional address).

Best,
Organizing Committee
