Academic Unit Heads, CEDs, and AES Unit Leaders,

EC approved all 181 requests for faculty and staff/AP yesterday.  Thank you for your work on the FY2020 ALVSCE merit adjustment process.

The division review was multifold: my office checked budgetary limitations and to avoid obvious equity concerns, Jeannie McLain reviewed the faculty data for individuals who were involved in documented behavioral or professional conduct issues this year, and EC reviewed as a safeguard to ensure the highest performers within our organization were recognized.

The ALVSCE process is merit only and was established by Dean Burgess in 2011.  It has been incrementally improved by shared governance.  This is also the first year that we created a separate staff/AP merit process with the guidance from the division Staff and AP Councils.  It is important to avoid confusion with the recent UA processes, which awards on the basis of meeting expectations.

KC Armenta in my office will work with your business officer to transfer the approved salary and ERE.  The unit business officer is responsible for submitting necessary paperwork to make the adjustments effective July 1 or August 19, depending upon the recipients contract start date.  All adjustments must be entered by May 15 to avoid the annual UA salary moratorium.
