[CED/CD/EAT] Area Sector Analysis Process (ASAP) Overview

Hello CEDs,
I’ve attached a 2-page overview of the process that I presented yesterday on your call.  This economic development tool can be applied to individual communities, counties or regions. Although, the larger the area, the more diluted the results become. For example, we decided against a county-wide application of ASAP in Cochise County because of the size of our county and economic diversity/variability throughout. However, small communities with active economic development interests are ideally suited, especially those that have the capacity to follow through with the results of the ASAP, i.e. recruiting companies/industries that have been identified in the process.

Please let me know fairly soon if you are interested in having this process applied to any of your communities as we’d like to apply for an EDA grant to make this opportunity available statewide. This is an excellent, compact process to help rural communities in their quest for reasonable, research-based, and sustainable economic development.
