Leaders,

Just a reminder that your faculty/department retreats that many of you have at the beginning of the academic year would be an ideal time to discuss the concepts from the article, Dancing Backwards in High Heels, as we recommend in the attached memo.  Coming up with strategies as a department or unit to mitigate the disproportionate service requirements placed on women and underrepresented groups, as well as acknowledge that they may receive lower evaluations from students based on the stereotyped expectations those students have of certain groups, will help ensure equitable treatment of those in your department.

Should you ever have questions, comments, or concerns around diversity, equity, and inclusion, please feel free to reach out to the CALS Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee as a resource.
