Directors,

As a member of the CALS Faculty Council, we were was asked to seek input for
the College's budget priorities.  Attached (and below) is a table of the
listed priorities that will be discussed at the CALS budget meeting on May
9.  

Please take a look and send me your thoughts and/or your rankings and I will
forward them to Steve Smith, Chair of the council, who will be attending
this meeting.

We need this all by this Friday, April 21.

Subject: CALS Fac Council, priorities in funding

Colleagues

I met with the Dean yesterday and one of the topics we discussed is the 9
May Budget Retreat. This meeting, which I will attend, is being organized by
the HODs, and provides us with an opportunity to engage in setting
priorities for budget distribution in the College. 

The Dean described the budgeting process in a 24 Mar letter to the faculty

page of this letter he lists 13 priorities for funding. So that I may be
able to represent our interests, could you please take a look at these
priorities and provide me with your ranking (1=most important, 13=least
important) by Friday 21 April? As always, feel free to circulate this among
your colleagues and incorporate their rankings as you see fit.

In order to simplify this a bit, I'm including a table listing the
priorities. (Note that I've altered the descriptions in a couple of cases
although there is apparent duplication that I can't resolve at this point.)
