Please join the MAC employees on Thursday, June 12th from 11:00am until noon
at the Maricopa Agricultural Center (37860 W. Smith-Enke Rd) for Dr. Dale
Farnhams interview presentation for the MAC Director position.

"My Vision for the Maricopa Agricultural Center"

Dr. Dale E. Farnham grew up on a corn, soybean, and livestock farm outside
of Gowrie, Iowa, in southwest Webster County. Dr. Farnham received the
Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management from Arizona State
University in 1979. He then returned to the Gowrie area and farmed with his
family for five years. In 1984, Dr. Farnham returned to Arizona where he
worked as a manufacturing engineer at Motorola, Inc. In 1987, Dr. Farnham
enrolled in a graduate program of study in Agronomy at Iowa State
University. He received the Master of Science degree (Crop Production and
Physiology) in 1989 and the Doctor of Philosophy degree (Crop Production and
Physiology) in 1992. His graduate work examined dinitrogen fixation and
transfer of fixed nitrogen from forage legumes to associated grasses.  After
a brief stint with Cenex Land o¹ Lakes, Dr. Farnham assumed the position of
Webster County Extension Education Director in Fort Dodge. In 1995, he
shifted duties in Extension and served as the Extension Field
Specialist/Crops, providing agronomic service to farmers in Calhoun,
Franklin, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, Webster, and Wright counties. In 1996,
Dr. Farnham¹s Extension duties changed again when he assumed the role of
Assistant Professor and Extension Agronomist in the Department of Agronomy
at Iowa State University, serving as the state corn specialist. In 2001, Dr.
Farnham left ISU and joined Monsanto, Inc. as Technology Development Manager
serving southwest and northeast Iowa territories. Dr. Farnham joined Farmers
Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa in 2004 where he served as Assistant
Vice President and Manager of the Research and Development Department until
December 2013. In May 2011, Dr. Farnham was appointed by Governor Branstad
to a 6-year term on the State Soil Conservation Committee where he serves as
the ³Cities and Towns² representative.  He also serves as a Story County
Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner, a member of the Research
and Business Development committee of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, and
a member of the Board of Directors of a start-up company, 640 Labs.

Dr. Farnham currently lives in Ames, Iowa, with his wife Michele (Facilities
Manager at the ISU Research Park), son Taylor (attending Des Moines Area
Community College), and daughter Jordan (will attend the University of Iowa
this fall). In his spare time, Dr. Farnham enjoys flying, woodworking, and
traveling.
