Everyone,
I am to be interviewed about "CALS Economic Impact" as part of a UA-wide initiative, by an external consultative group, tomorrow at 5.15. This the beginning of the process. If anyone has any thoughts can you please fill in the blanks, BUT do not spend a lot of time on it. Tomorrow is the first step in process and I am not expected to have done any more than have looked doc at this before then. I do think though that this is a useful exercise for us all and we can take advantage of it as it progresses. It is supposed to be done for UA by the end of February and so the timing is good for us .
One of the biggest economic impacts is jobs, not just those we have but those we create through extramural grants. Of course spin off companies are important also.
In addition though, 3rd party jobs may be even more important and I have asked a number of Ext personnel, including CEDS to convert dollar and acre numbers into number of jobs.
Regards
Shane
