Dear ALVSCE Colleagues,

The ALVSCE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council is pleased to share our new website: https://alvsce.arizona.edu/dei/. The site includes resources for students<https://alvsce.arizona.edu/dei/students/overview>, faculty and staff<https://alvsce.arizona.edu/dei/employees>, events, and learning opportunities<https://alvsce.arizona.edu/dei/knowledge>. It will be regularly updated with new information.

ALVSCE's DEI Council traces its roots back to 1993, making it one of the oldest such programs on campus. DEI is woven into our culture and involves everyone through:

  * Our land-grant mission is the foundation of educational inclusion and access for all.
  *   Undergraduate students in CALES:
     * One of the largest STEM female populations on campus - 73%
     * Largest 1st Generation student population - 36% of CALES students are the first in their family to attend college
  * Cooperative Extension programs serve a population as diverse as the State of Arizona.
  * Academic units and the VETS Office create courses and programs for veterans.
  * The top ranked UArizona Peace Corps program, which is housed in ALVSCE, prepares dozens of students to make a difference around the globe. And Extension's AmeriCorps volunteers serve communities throughout Arizona.
  * The Experiment Station works with corporate partners and faculty to advance technologies that benefit the people and economies of the world.

DEI is a name for something that has been part of us since 1885. It is for everyone and recognizes that we can always learn, grow, and strive to better understand one another.

You too can be involved in DEI through your unit or by becoming an appointed member of the ALVSCE DEI Council<https://alvsce.arizona.edu/dei/about-us>. Also, please RSVP for the upcoming People-Centered Leadership miniseries taught by Dr. Paul Melendez, University Distinguished Outreach Professor from Eller College of Management. Flyer with dates and times is attached.

DEI is a team activity. Thank you for the work you do to make ALVSCE a place that is supportive and welcoming to all.
