Everyone,
With a bittersweet mix of sadness and good wishes I must tell you that Jennifer Yamnitz will be leaving CALS and the UA later this month. Jennifer joined us in 2016 as Executive Director of CALS Branding and Marketing (later assuming the same responsibility for all of ALVSCE). Her arrival sparked a transformation in the way CALS tells its story for prospective students. Under Jennifer's patient and able leadership, we've embraced digital marketing and have become familiar with previously arcane concepts such as search engine optimization, Google ad buys, lead generation sites and RFI forms. And, the transformation paid off. CALS record of recruiting new students just prior and through the pandemic years is second to none on campus. But, Jennifer's role didn't stop with recruiting. She was instrumental in expanding our promotion of faculty research, recruiting Rosemary Brandt to the team, and most recently in advocating for and coaching CALS faculty speakers at the UA's South By Southwest (SXSW) pavilion in Austin in March 2022.
Jennifer is leaving the UA for a private sector opportunity in the education technology space. Her last day will be June 22, 2022. But, she has hired and trained an extremely capable team who will continue the programs and promotional strategies that have proved so successful. CALS enrollment SMART Goals are still in place, and our website redesign strategies are moving forward smartly. Of course, we will soon be in the market to hire a new Director of Branding and Marketing for the division. That person will have talented shoes to fill, but with the advantage of a crack team, buy-in from CALS academic units, and demonstrated success in building the brand and bringing in new students.
When you have the opportunity, please join me in conveying thanks to Jennifer for all she has done for us over the past 6 years. Jenn, best wishes for your new adventure!
Best regards,
Mike
