Inviting Search Committee Nominations for the Director, UA Cooperative Extension System

[Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences, and Cooperative Extension Weekly Bulletin]

Good afternoon -

A search is now underway for the new Director, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension System.

This leadership position is key to strategic Extension mission delivery. The director will be responsible for approximately 1/3 of the faculty and staff in the Division of Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences, and Cooperative Extension. Not only is our Extension work base-funded by separate state and federal budget lines, with explicit state and federal legislative intents, CES is the UA's strategic initiative 3.3D Building on Excellence through Cooperative Extension.

I would like to begin by inviting individuals to serve on the search committee. The committee include representatives of our external stakeholders and the communities served by CES as well as faculty, staff and volunteers.

I anticipate the work will begin in mid-August and continue through the fall semester. The committee will receive their charge from Vice President Burgess at the initial meeting.

The University of Arizona and the Division of Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences, and Cooperative Extension have an interest in ensuring that the search for the CES director is conducted using the highest standards of integrity. Committee members will be asked to use their best professional judgment while assisting in the identification of qualified finalists. Each committee member is also charged with disclosing to the committee chair and Vice President Burgess whether they may be unable to remain fair and objective as to any individual candidate under consideration during the process.
