Winter FY21 Business Retreat

[Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences, and Cooperative Extension Weekly Bulletin]

Dear Colleagues,

ALVSCE held its biannual Business Retreat on February 19.  More than 40 academic, business, and shared governance leaders from CALS, Cooperative Extension, and the Experiment Station attended. The Business Retreats facilitate the alignment of mission and finances, discussion and establishment of strategy, and build greater understanding.  Retreats are significant in terms of the collective time but necessary to create transparency.  If you are interested in learning more, please ask an attendee (listed on top of the agenda).  They are actively encouraged to share everything shown and discussed.

Major items from this retreat included the 2025 demographic changes in the national mix of college-going students; the financial cross subsidization of the teaching and research missions; the budget and hiring plans in Cooperative Extension; and industry relevance of CALS degrees and the Career Center.

The second retreat for this fiscal year will be held in May.
