Greetings Agvisors:

Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We are welcoming 58 First Year students at the New Student Orientation tomorrow May 31st. Below is information for your reference.  Quick links to the preschedules, preschedule change requests, S4S and Writing Placements lists will also be posted in the Agvisors Team chat for quick reference.

May 31 orientation (58 students):

  *   First Year student lists per session -CALS 2234 <https://arizona.box.com/s/xv2qn28ltiwsrsu29f1k2ycw8fpg60a8>
  *   Preschedules have been uploaded to CARSS folder https://arizona.box.com/s/2cdewlq4920v8549n8kjrzgcljf0ak1q (will aim for  all students to be enrolled in 12 units minimum; many are still below 12 units in the most recent version)
  *   Preschedule modification requests may be submitted at: https://arizona.box.com/s/5edozc1vc1zbz032f3sivbeqtgi9wh0h (refer to worksheet corresponding to the orientation date)
  *   Writing Placement information will be uploaded in Box at following link when available. Below is information shared today: https://arizona.box.com/s/l0xnszvqni6zgs5pw307ahot10mn7o7fSchedule
  *   Schedule 4 Success student list per session and Advisor reference sheet will be uploaded in Box: https://arizona.box.com/s/161tqr7br14y60wgpoprmkl85ax04g7j
     *   May 31 session has 26 of 58 students in S4S.
     *   Math placement scores may change throughout summer if students retake their test.
     *   Students are eligible to take ALEKS placement 2 times (included as part of their enrollment deposit fee). Must be accessed directly through their Next Steps Center Portal.
     *   For reference, outreach from multiple sources, including CALS Learning Lab Academic Learning Coach Shawnda Garcia, is being done to connect with students that have not taken placement test or have placed in Math 100. This is being done as soon as students populate on the Math placement query per session date.

Hello Orientation Team!

The attached list is for tomorrow's orientation. Please note that the list may contain students who have cancelled their admission (I run this orientation list from Query Viewer and it doesn't, as of yet, contain a column for status).

  *   The students who did not complete the FWE in time and received temporary placements have placements listed in the column "Temporary placement."
  *   These are often the students who most need to come talk to a Writing Placement Advisor (especially if they want to change/update the temporary placement or have dual enrollment/English exams to report), so please take note of those in your college and make sure to double-check their writing placement with them!
  *   This list also includes international students--we do not create temporary placements for these students, so please simply encourage them to complete the iFWE if they haven't already done so.
  *   Writing Placement Advising takes place during Registration Assistance<https://arizona.zoom.us/j/85946409786> (we are available from 2:30-4:30).
Students who receive a temporary placement are also strongly encouraged to participate in the following free opportunity:

Wildcat LEAP Writing Workshop, July 10-July 28 (online, asynchronous)
The Writing Program is partnering with the Office of Undergraduate Education to offer a 3-week workshop that provides participants opportunities to:

  *   better understand the Foundations Writing courses;
  *   get a jump start on learning key terminology as well as reading and writing practices;
  *   work with an academic skills coach; and
  *   collaborate on determining the best writing course for them. In writing, course fit is the key to a better experience.

Registration is now open<https://undergraduate.arizona.edu/engaged-learning/summer-program-leap> and will close at least one week prior to the start of each respective program option. Early registration is encouraged as seats are limited.
