Greetings Agvisors and CAS Colleagues:
Below is further information regarding Schedule for Success program. On behalf of the college we will send an email out to all S4S students starting that are starting this Fall term. We anticipate receiving an updated lists every Tuesday and Thursday leading up to 9/9/23 (as mentioned below). Student lists will be uploaded in the Box S4S folder for your reference and use.
Appreciate the questions that have been sent via email and Teams chat. The messaging and advising we have formerly provided S4S program students had been accurate. We will make students aware that as of August 4, 2023 the university provided an update regarding the S4S program and the 13 unit enrollment restriction is no longer in effect. Per policy, students can enroll in a maximum of 19 units, but will inform them that First Year students enroll in 15-16 units on average during their first year. It was also confirmed that all new students will be able to enroll in the maximum units allowed regardless if they have financial aid.
Both Math 100 (3 units) and SAS100AX (2 units - developmental units) will still be required for students in the S4S program. The SAS100AX units will remain coded as developmental units and not count towards graduation units. Those units will still count towards full time status for financial aid purposes.
Will share further information as we learn more. Thanks to all for your continued dedication in supporting and assisting students.
Best,
Nancy

Subject: Schedule for Success Program Updates - College of Agriculture & Life Sciences
Hi Nancy and Serena,
I hope you are doing well in College of Agriculture & Life Sciences! I wanted to reach out regarding the recent guidance and updates to the Schedule for Success program. We received new guidelines from IPEDS and changes that are effective immediately for students in our program.
What this means for students in Schedule for Success:
* The unit cap was lifted on Friday. Any students who attended orientation earlier this summer can add additional units. They are no longer limited to 13 units and can add up to 19 units.
* No additional changes to S4S program, related courses, or support. Students in Schedule for success are still required to enroll in MATH 100 and SAS 100AX due to their math placement. Schedule changes are granted on an exception basis due to high enrollment in both courses. If you find students who need a schedule change due to work conflicts, major required coursework, or extenuating circumstances please feel free to send them to scheduleforsuccess at arizona.edu<mailto:scheduleforsuccess at arizona.edu>
We will still be sending lists Tuesdays and Thursdays leading up until September 9th, However, the parameters will look a little different. Now that students are not limited to 12-13 units we will send the entire list for the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (and respective lists for the other colleges across campus).
* Enrolled in fewer than 13 units. This will effectively be the entirety of the list. We are hoping advisors can reach out to students to check in with whether adding additional coursework is the right decision for them. The biggest takeaway from this change is that students now have the choice to add more units. We know advisors work closely with students and can help advise and guide them on what is best for them.
* 10-week courses. I will be reaching out to 10-week course faculty and coordinating staff to request seats be opened as soon as possible so there are more options for students to add coursework. I will be sending an update to UPAC with these updates and an updated flyer so they are also aware.
* Not enrolled in MATH 100/SAS 100AX. Students in the program still need to be enrolled in both courses unless they place out or change to a major that does not require MATH 100.
Our team will continue outreach to students in these final weeks leading up to the semester for those who have no placement or those who are close to placing out. We also will encourage them to reach out to their advisors for assistance.
I know this is a big change for everyone and for our students; we will place an emphasis on continuing to provide academic support through THINK TANK by way of access to free academic coaching, tutoring, and other services to ensure a successful transition to college. We know that students who utilize these services are observed to persist at higher rates and have higher academic performance. Please know we are here and available to help any way we can.
Please feel free to reach out to me or Marco Ortiz, THINK TANK Director (cc'd on this email) directly regarding any questions or concerns. As always, Sara will be poised and ready to answer any student questions and get them connected to their advisor through the scheduleforsuccess at arizona.edu<mailto:scheduleforsuccess at arizona.edu> email. We will both be monitoring the Teams channel closely in case more questions or concerns come our way.
Thank you for everything you do; I look forward to working with you and your team,
Thank you,
Caitlin Kerrigan Cruz
