[Agvisors] Fall 2023 CALS195C instructor opportunity

Greetings Colleagues:

The CALS Office of Career and Academic Services is accepting applications to teach CALS195C (1 unit success course) this Fall 2023.  There is a stipend of $1,500-$2,000 per section. If co-taught it will be $750-$1,000 per instructor (2 instructors max per section). Class enrollment will be at minimum 10 students with maximum of 35. Below are the current sections with day, time and location for reference.

The class will focus on assisting students with their transition to the university and college while applying intentional strategies on learning to learn. All instructors will be required to attend training prior to the beginning of term. Training details will be sent to applicants. The success course working group has been working on class details with common syllabus. We’re excited to welcome new students and prepare them further towards their academic success.

Instructors will be expected to do the work above their assigned job duties. Below are course instructor expectations:

  *   Will attend all bi-weekly instructor meetings. Meeting times will be established in advance.
  *   Commits to teaching the topics in the course syllabus in the order they appear and further commits to using the materials and assessments provided for them, including tracking and reporting attendance for data analysis purposes.
  *   Will attend all class times.
     *   In the event of a planned absence, INSTRUCTOR is responsible for coordinating a substitute with one of the other instructors.
  *   Will communicate with assigned CALS PALS peer mentor(s) during the week.
  *   Must have completed a Master’s degree to teach success course individually. If course is co-taught one instructor must have a Master’s degree and the other must have a Bachelor’s degree, minimum.
  *   Failure to comply with the agreement expectations may exclude instructor from future consideration for teaching the course.  Extreme non-compliance may result in termination of this contract.
