Greetings Agvisors,
Message below may be duplicate for most. Sharing within advising and student support teams in case you’re not on the UPAC list yet.
Friendly reminder, the deadline to audit a course with only instructor approval is 10/30 (Sunday) for full term classes.
Thanks for your continued support and dedication.
Best,
Nancy

Subject: [uaac] Update on potential policy change for Fall 2022 - DO NOT RELEASE YET
Greetings AAC and UPAC colleagues!
I hope you are doing well during this busy time for the advising community. Please take care of yourself as you advise your students.
This message is to update you on a forthcoming message that will come from Provost Folks to students and instructors later this week. I am sending you a “Heads-up” but do not change advising on this policy until the official message is sent to students later this week. If I am notified of distribution date and receive a copy, I will share with you.
In the official communication from Provost Folks, she will share a Fall 2022 Academic Policy Exception concerning the Withdrawal deadline and 18 unit maximum. Below is an excerpt concerning the policy exception. It might be edited but this gives you basic information that is anticipated. A bit later in the message from Provost Folks, you will see a message about academic advisors as a resource. The Directors of Academic Advising across all the colleges assisted in developing this message that reminds students that academic advisors are a resource. Thanks to these colleagues for quick response.
This information is being shared with you to allow you to prepare for potential communication from students and to clarify that our students will have a wider window to consider a withdraw from a course and not have it count in the 18 unit maximum. Again, I stress that this policy change is not official until the communication is sent from Dr. Folks, later this week. Please do not release yet.
I appreciate all that you are doing to support and empower students to accomplish their goals. Every time I have the opportunity to interact with any of you, I am so impressed with your commitment to students and the University of Arizona. I enjoy every interaction!
With Appreciation,
Sharon A-W
Excerpt from message going to students and instructors later this week that includes potential change to academic policy.
DO NOT RELEASE YET.
Fall 2022 Academic Policy Exceptions
While I would always encourage you to complete all your academic courses, I have authorized the following exceptions to the academic policy for the fall 2022 term. It is my hope that this revision to the academic policies will provide you with the flexibility you need to successfully complete your coursework.
* The Withdrawal Deadline for individual courses for the regular session fall semester is extended to 12/7/2022, the last day of classes.
* Other sessions that have not ended will have an adjusted deadline<https://registrar.arizona.edu/dates-and-deadlines>.
* The ‘W’ Grade Unit Maximum<https://catalog.arizona.edu/policy/grades-and-grading-system> (18 units) policy for Undergraduate students is suspended for the fall 2022.
* Grades of W taken in Fall 2022 will be excluded from the 18-unit limit for Undergraduate students.
* Students who have already reached the 18 unit limit from other terms will be able to W individual classes until the applicable deadline.
Later in the communication:
Undergraduate students are encouraged to contact their Academic Adviso<https://advising.arizona.edu/advisors/major>r if they have questions about the impact of a course withdrawal or other academic policies on achieving their academic goals.
