Dear Advisors,
Happy Monday,
Please see the note below re: internships for summer and fall. I know some of you are already on this list, as are your faculty; for those that are not, please forward to the individuals in your areas that need to be aware of these internship guidelines.
I hope you have a great week!
With gratitude,
Bridget

Dear Colleagues,
I’m writing to share the materials from this week's Internship Council meeting.
* Meeting Slides <https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1rmQHH14zC1EMxJv-okblhofWJ6b1HcR_4oJKHdCr55A/edit?usp=sharing>
* Video<https://arizona.zoom.us/rec/share/oyJ9HXbf3cz6Mlr2wfn4d3XhhFWx1bi_SOCSoIWZVdAjHluP70z5yGg9bUcPWiE4.nJiUQtkckVnG0npN> (with automated captions)
A couple of important highlights:
* Provost Folks has confirmed that the UA’s COVID-19 Experiential Learning Guidelines, which includes the Assessment of Recommended Covid-19 Workplace Risk Management Protocols for Credit-Bearing Experiential Learning Activities<https://registrar.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/2.%20Experiential%20Learning_COVID%20Assessment%206.21.20-fillable%20pdf-v2.pdf> form, remains in place for Summer and Fall 2021.
* Note the new update on the Provost’s website<https://provost.arizona.edu/content/experiential-learning-guidelines> as of April 14: “Please be reminded that we may not ask others about their vaccination status, and nor should vaccination status be used to limit student involvement in any academic or experiential activity.” To be clear, host institutions/agencies are able to have their own workplace guidelines/policies, and these guidelines may include requiring student interns to provide proof of vaccination, but the University is not requiring proof of vaccination at this time.
* The Registrar’s website went through a refresh. For those campus units who link to the Registrar’s webpage for internship forms (including the Internship Work Plan), check your links to ensure that they are still working.
* All university internship related forms can be found on this page: https://registrar.arizona.edu/faculty-staff-resources/forms-help-guides/faculty-staff-forms
* As a note, the Assessment of Recommended Covid-19 Workplace Risk Management Protocols form was also updated this week to adjust the link to the Internship Work Plan.
* Summer Impact Award – May 15 is the final deadline for eligible students to apply for the $2500 summer stipend for unpaid/underpaid internships.
* https://career.arizona.edu/skills-experience/summer-impact-awards
* Career Champions – this is a new training series for faculty and staff offered by our partners at Student Engagement and Career Development.
* https://www.career.arizona.edu/faculty-staff/career-champions
* Annual Reporting on Internship Locations – the annual report for 2020 experiences is due by each unit providing credit-bearing experiential learning by May 25.
* Rachel Abraham, Program Manager with Data and Policy Compliance, joined our meeting to provide guidance on the annual reporting of internship locations. You can find Rachel’s presentation in this BOX folder<https://arizona.box.com/s/895y1c42cmh2w2b3z6nh4j4mvf89ojxi>, and her commentary is in the video linked above. Once I have my 2020 report completed and reviewed by Rachel, I’ll upload it to the same BOX folder to serve as an example.
* Those with questions or who are interested in joining the Task Force to address the reporting challenges can email Rachel at: rachelabraham at arizona.edu<mailto:rachelabraham at arizona.edu>.
Looking forward: This was the last planned meeting for this academic year. Our meetings will resume in the Fall term. If you have questions about topics addressed during the 2020-2021 academic year, you can check the Internship Council BOX folder<https://arizona.box.com/s/hupbfq35xukrr2zh6theotbumst0fnqw> at any time (requires UA Net-ID log-in credentials).
As always, feel free to reach out with your questions and ideas.
Best,
Stephanie -- Internship Council Fellow
