[Agvisors] Honors Convocation: Cord & Event (10/16 via Facebook)

Hello Agvisors: This year’s CALS Honors Convocation is a virtual event that will be live-streamed on October 16, 2020 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm AZ time via the CALS Facebook page<https://www.facebook.com/uarizonaCALS/>. The ceremony is an open event - family, friends, supporters, and CALS faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Additionally, all recipients have the option to receive an Honors Convocation cord as a token of recognition from CALS. Students must complete this form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=BVXjXo7rKUmTfWRd9QEyiIlj9jQnHshEq6wEEk37XyZUNE1OWkhHVTZSV1NIQTlFOFNOMVA3RE5VWCQlQCN0PWcu> by Wednesday, September 30 to receive their cord by mail. All recipients are receiving an email this morning (additional emails will be sent as well).

For your reference, I added the 2020 recipient list to the shared CARSS/Students Lists folder<https://arizona.app.box.com/folder/88370394467?s=ulwx2ei4sxlzwtvfmjoxjv15d7co3gt4> in Box. If you want to email your eligible students directly, please do so and encourage them to complete the form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=BVXjXo7rKUmTfWRd9QEyiIlj9jQnHshEq6wEEk37XyZUNE1OWkhHVTZSV1NIQTlFOFNOMVA3RE5VWCQlQCN0PWcu> by Wednesday, September 30 to receive their cord by mail.

A few notes about Honors Convocation:

•                     Eligibility to participate in Honors Convocation is based solely on academic achievement from the previous year – students who earned either Academic Distinction or Highest Academic Distinction. Students do not have to be part of the Honors College to be eligible for Honors Convocation. Eligibility is determined by University policy<https://catalog.arizona.edu/policy/academic-distinction-deans-list-honors-and-awards>.

•                     This year, 733 CALS students are eligible.

•                     And, because the recognition is given to students based on the previous year, students who have already graduated are also invited.

CALS students’ commitment to sustained academic excellence is impressive, particularly when we consider the context of the second half of the 2019/20 academic year.
