Congratulations on your admission to the University of Arizona and welcome to the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS)! As a student in CALS you’ll be challenged to create new ideas across disciplines, to discover solutions to problems big and small, and to roll up your sleeves and get things done – all while making a positive impact.
In our college, this type of experiential learning is part of our DNA. When you graduate from CALS, you'll be recognized as a highly engaged, emerging leader in our society. Your journey begins with New Student Orientation on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 starting at 10 am (AZ time). Make the most of Orientation and follow the steps below to:

#1: Next Steps Center

  *   Complete all steps in your Next Steps Center in its entirety: https://nextsteps.arizona.edu/ <https://t.e2ma.net/click/rhjsqc/vs6wzw/b9hl4r>
  *    You won’t be able to register for classes until your Next Steps Center is complete.

#2: Confirm Your Orientation

  *   Confirm your Orientation session date in your Next Steps Center.

#3: Help us Get to Know You

  *   Complete the CALS Orientation profile form here<https://t.e2ma.net/click/rhjsqc/vs6wzw/r1il4r> by June 2.

#4: Attend the CALS College Meeting
On the day of your Orientation log into the CALS College Meeting at 10 am (AZ time):

The CALS part of your Orientation begins with a College Meeting, starting promptly at 10 am (AZ time). The College Meeting will last about an hour. You'll also meet with your major academic advisor.

  *   Times for meeting with your major academic advisor will be shared during the College Meeting.
  *   We recommend keeping your schedule open for the duration of your Orientation day as advising times and other campus sessions will vary per student/major.

#5: Meet Your Major Academic Advisor & Register for Classes

  *   During the CALS College Meeting you will be provided with your assigned major academic advising appointment time and further information on how to register for classes.
  *   Attendence at the College Meeting and your major academic advising appointment are required to complete your Orientation and to be eligible to register for classes.

Important Reminders

  *   Make sure to create your UANetID! You'll need it to access your Catmail and UAccess Student Center: https://netid.arizona.edu/newid.php<https://t.e2ma.net/click/rhjsqc/vs6wzw/3ell4r>
  *   Orientation is required! If you request an advising appointment with your academic advisor prior to orientation, you will still be required to attend a formal orientation session.
  *   Check your UA email often! Make sure you check and read your UA email throughout the week as you may receive additional information from other sessions you may be required to attend (i.e. Honors College, Schedule For Success, Arizona Assurance, Pre-Health, Pre-Law and more).

Academic advisors help you access services, provide academic advice, and support your goals. You’ll likely have at least two academic advisors: one for your major and a general college advisor.

  *   Your major advisor guides you through your declared program of study, including course selection.
  *   A general advisor provides broad support including helping undecided students select a major, processing forms, interpreting policies, assisting with course schedules, and offering career preparation services. We also lead the College Meeting at your New Student Orientation!
