The out of state new student orientation sessions have been cancelled. The May and June in-person sessions will now be virtual as we anticipated.

Subject: Important Orientation Updates

Dear OAC,

I hope that everyone is staying well and healthy. I've heard from many of you with questions about our remaining out of state orientation sessions as well as our on-campus programs later this summer. Thank you again for your patience as we navigate all of this!

With that being said, I'm now able to provide you all with a few concrete updates: our remaining out of state Orientation sessions in both Chicago and California have been cancelled. We will work with these students to move them to other sessions. In addition, on campus sessions for May and June will be transitioned to virtual sessions. At this time, July and August sessions remain in person.

As you can imagine, our office is beginning to work through a variety of different logistical aspects in light of these changes. One of the biggest pieces that we will be working through is an online digital Orientation option (via a D2L course) for our First-Year students. Our goal is to get this project, as well as a Transfer digital Orientation option, kicked into high gear so that we can have a finished product for students who we are no longer able to host in person. As you know, I sent an email to all of you last week that included some guidance for the First-Year D2L Orientation course. I have attached the template that was given to us by Marketing for you all to use as a resource. In addition to the template, I have also included a zip file of various images that you might want to use in your presentations so that we can maintain a consistent look and feel. We will be working closely with all of you to determine if we can host real-time sessions and more.

I will continue to provide updates as we work through what these changes mean for all of us. I am so appreciate your patience and support! Thank you for your partnership and please reach out with any questions.
