Subject: [cas] Operational Update: CALS Life Management Counseling & Consulting Services

Dear Colleagues,

Below are important operational updates related to how the CALS' Life Management Counseling & Consulting services are being temporarily affected.

First and foremost, my thoughts are with our students and how these challenging times are affecting. Students are likely experiencing a range of normal reactions from increased stress and anxiety to feelings of uncertainty as they finish the semester. During this time I will continue supporting students with their mental health concerns and assist them in maintaining wellness and resiliency.

However, to prevent further contagion, the University has decided to follow the CDC guidelines of using social distancing measures to limit in-person contact as much as possible. As such, this will temporarily change the way Life Management Counseling (LMC) operates as we provide continued support to students, faculty and staff. Please review the following temporary LMC service changes:

  * In-person counseling sessions are not currently available, but students are encouraged to schedule telehealth counseling sessions using the audio/video platform Zoom.
  * Students currently receiving direct counseling support from me may continue to keep their appointment(s) via telehealth by using the audio/video platform Zoom.
  * Students wanting to schedule an initial counseling appointment, but who feel they are OK to wait until in-person services resume are being directed to wait until in-person services resume.
  * If students feel that they need to have an initial Life Management Counseling appointment before in-person services resume, they can contact me to discuss options.
  * I will continue to remain available for faculty/staff consultations and can be reached by email or phone. Staff/faculty Zoom appointments can be scheduled as well.
  * Also, please note that email and telehealth consultations are not appropriate for student emergencies. If there is a student emergency, please follow the already established protocols which include contacting University of Arizona Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at 520-621-333 or University Police.
  * Since we are only able to provide telehealth counseling and consulting services at this time, I will be temporarily shifting to working remotely from home, starting 3/16.

Finally, below are answers to common questions that may arise about Life Management Counseling & Consultation services:

How can students schedule Life Management Counseling telehealth Zoom appointments?

  1. Students can select an available appointment using the following link: Click to schedule an appointment<http://calendly.com/ryandaily> or use this link: bit.ly/cals4you<http://bit.ly/cals4you>
  2. Students can email me directly at rdaily7 at arizona.edu
  3. Students can call and leave me a voicemail at my UA line (520) 621-8922. My UA voicemails are routed to my UA email and I will respond to students as soon as possible during business hours.

How can students contact me during this time?
Students can contact me by email at rdaily7 at arizona.edu or by my UA line (520) 621-8922.

How can staff and faculty contact me during this time?
Staff and faculty can contact me by email at rdaily7 at arizona.edu or leave me a voicemail on my UA line (520) 621-8922. Also, for urgent matters, I can be reached on my personal cell phone at (520) 505-5864. Since this is my personal cell line, please do not share it with students.

What can I share with CALS students, faculty and staff to let them know about CALS' Life Management Counseling and Consulting services?
A new CALS webpage was just added yesterday to the CALS website. Please share this link: CALS Life Management Counseling & Consulting Services<http://Life%20Management%20Counseling%20and%20Consulting%20Services>

What other resources can I share with students about coping with the stress of Covid19?
I have a attached a one pager that provides coping strategies for students. You can also share it as a link: Coping with COVID-19 Related Stress<https://emailarizona-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/personal/rdaily7_email_arizona_edu/EYbJkqd4PK1DrsP0HSeqVmYBr9aD-lWDCMZsrykn191-fg?e=lI9MLd>

We are hoping this disruption will be short-term and I look forward to resuming normal operations once informed by University officials.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.
