The phishing email  below has been sent out to many University of Arizona students. We have received several emails and phone calls about this.  Our IT is notifying UITS ISO Office and we are working to try to inform students this email was not sent by the Bursar's Office.  We will have a message about this shortly on our website and we are responding quickly to student questions regarding this.  I wanted to let you know this as you may get questions as well.

Dear Bursar, I received the following email but I am suspicious it is spam. Can you confirm if this is from UA Office of Bursar? If it is spam, how can I know if I received the UA student relief funding from COVID?

Dear UA Student:

You will be receiving emergency relief funding made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  As a result, we are reaching out to give you instruction on the safest and most efficient way to receive CARES funds from The University of Arizona.


Update your information
Under ‘Refund Method’ select ‘Edit Refund Method’
You will receive an ‘Authentication Code’ in your MyUA email account Enter the Authentication code number and click submit Select ‘Bank Account (Direct Deposit)’ and enter the required information


Click AUpay Student Choice Refunds and you will be taken directly into the portal system to sign up for this aid.  Follow the steps above to complete the process.


The sign-up process is quick and easy. With direct deposit, you will have your refund in days as opposed to weeks with a paper check so be sure to enroll.
