Subject: [uaac] Advising Update from Provost Folks (distribute to college advisors)
Importance: High
Dear Advisors:
Thank you for all that you are doing to support students during these times of ongoing changes and challenges. Please know that your work is critically important and valued by your students and by me also.
I know the evolving circumstances with the spread of the coronavirus have caused an increasing number of our continuing and even new students to re-evaluate their plans and choose to take all of their courses in either the Live Online or iCourse formats. I am aware of this general trend in student demand, and we are currently working with the appropriate college leadership and faculty to make adjustments in capacity for the requested modalities. This adjustment will necessarily be incremental, and we will pass along any updates to you as they become available.
I appreciate your patience as we react to student demand for particular course modalities. Please continue to help students identify alternative course choices to build online schedules as desired. There may be instances where a course that does not lend itself to the online environment will need to be taken once the student is back on campus. For example, if an In-Person lab is the only course preventing an online schedule, then, while not ideal, the lab may need to be delayed to a later semester. It’s unfortunate that we all are experiencing these sorts of realities, as best as we try to work around them.
The Advising Resource Center is collecting comments and feedback from advisors to routinely send to me. Please send your suggestions and comments to advising at arizona.edu<mailto:advising at arizona.edu>
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Regards,
Liesl
