An update on CALS graduation planning and communication. Let me know if you/your students have any questions at all!
* CALS Graduation Newsletter: A draft of the second issue is below (for reference only, please do not forward to your student lists). We'll continue to publish the newsletter, particularly as deadlines are closer.
* If you know of students walking in May 2020 but who are graduating in a different semester have them email me directly. I'll add their info to the graduation email list and also ensure their name runs in the program.
* About 700 total ugrads and grads are graduating in May 2020. As of 2/27/2020 we have 146 student RSVPs.
* RSVP is required - the deadline is April 29 (this will ensure their name appears in the print program)
* RSVP for UA graduation ceremony will open mid-March
* FYI - CALS has two college colors for graduation. The color of the Tassel and College Stole of Gratitude depends on the primary CALS major: Maize for Agriculture majors and Maroon for all majors in the Norton School of Family & Consumer Sciences.
* FYI: The Maize stoles are currently out of stock at the BookStores. More are expected within the next two weeks, they'll definitely be in stock for GradFest (3/24-3/27).
* CALS cords: As a college, CALS awards undergraduate students two types of cords: Honors Cord (red or red/white/blue) for academic distinction is awarded annually in October and the copper colored Leadership Cord, awarded annually in April. At graduation time, students often remember they neglected to pick up their cords at the designated event. If that happens, contact:
* Academic Distinction/Honors cord, contact Cecilia Mazon (cmazon at email.arizona.edu<mailto:cmazon at email.arizona.edu>)
* Leadership cord, contact Gabrielle Sykes-Casavant (gms at email.arizona.edu<mailto:gms at email.arizona.edu>)

Our College Colors: Maize & Maroon
CALS is a wonderfully diverse college. Our 18 majors - ranging from Veterinary Science to Personal & Family Financial Planning - highlight this fact!
Our college colors also celebrate our diversity. In fact, CALS is the only UA college to have two college colors: Maize and Maroon.
What does this mean for you? For graduation, the color of your Tassel and College Stole of Gratitude depends on your primary CALS major:
* Maize for Agriculture majors and
* Maroon for all majors in the Norton School of Family & Consumer Sciences.
Important: The Maize stoles are currently out of stock at the UA BookStores. A shipment is expected within the next two weeks. Maize stoles will definitely be available at GradFest.
Get Creative: Decorate your Grad Cap!
Now that you've purchased your graduation cap, get creative and express yourself by decorating your cap! We provide all the baubles, sparkles, glue, and trinkets needed to bring your vision to life. Come alone or in a group - just make sure to join us and be part of the fun!
