Subject: [uaac] More follow-up to the Update on Merit Aid
UAAC:
My apologies for all the messages the day before an extended weekend. Following are several questions posed with rapid-response answers.
Please let me know additional questions as they arise.

1. Does this only apply for first-year students? The announcement says that scholarships will automatically be renewed for students who have 27 units at the end of the year. What about sophomores who end the year with 57 units and/or a 2.8 GPA at the end of the year or juniors with 87 units and/or a 2.8?
No, all continuing undergrads (assuming they are not at the 8 semesters of eligibility).
The 27 units is for this AY (through summer 21), so it will include undergrads at different levels.
The sophomore and junior mentioned would be included in the auto renewal (assuming they were on track last year and did 27 for this AY).
Students will need to “get back on track” with the cum GPA, however, by the end of spring/summer 2022 (we have no way of prorating that depending on grade level). They will need to have at least a 3.00 for the renewal process the following year.
1. Since this is a one-time exception, can I assume that students will need to get back on track with original scholarship requirements by the following year? So a student who finishes their freshman year with 27 units would need to complete 33 units in their sophomore year to get back on track and have 60 units by the start of their junior year?
No, we will be back to 30 units for the current students per AY based on the Terms & Conditions. We will not require 33 units the following year.
Here is a list of all tuition scholarships this applies to:

Subject: some questions
Hi Kasey:
A smart advisor is asking the following questions to which we may, may not, have an answer. I may have missed this covered in our meeting – what about the requirements for beyond first year students.
1. Does this only apply for first-year students? The announcement says that scholarships will automatically be renewed for students who have 27 units at the end of the year. What about sophomores who end the year with 57 units and/or a 2.8 GPA at the end of the year or juniors with 87 units and/or a 2.8?

So a student who finishes their freshman year with 27 units would need to complete 33 units in their sophomore year to get back on track and have 60 units by the start of their junior year?
I told them I may not be able to find an answer today but I would pose the questions.
Thanks for everything, Kasey. I hope you get a really nice break. I repeat. I hope you get a really nice break.
Best-
Roxie
