[Agvisors] FYI: Graduation Communication

A heads up that CALS graduating students have begun receiving communications for December Graduation. Information will be shared weekly through CALS Connect; additionally, graduating students will receive the CALS Graduation Newsletter (similar to the draft message below). I wanted to share a few details related to graduation planning – let me know if you/your students have any questions.


  *   Who is on the CALS student “graduation list”?
     *   All undergraduate and graduate primary majors with a Degree Checkout Status Code of AG, IR, or PN (info pulled/updated daily).
     *   Regardless of their actual graduation term, CALS majors can walk in either the December or May CALS graduation convocation – it’s their choice. However, for planning purposes it’s important that these students (or their advisors) let me know their choice so that I can include the student in all graduation-related communication and also that their name appears in the print program.
     *   Also, email me if a student has a primary college other than CALS but wants to walk in our ceremony (and have their name in our program).
  *   What happens when students RSVP?
     *   After they RSVP, students will receive an automatic email confirmation summarizing their responses and giving dates/times for ticket pick-up.
  *   What graduation events are being held in CALS/on campus?
     *   For December, all colleges hold their own graduation convocation (the colleges also hold ceremonies in May) – there is no big UA ceremony.
     *   December graduates can opt to attend the big UA graduation ceremony in May – they’ll just need to RSVP when the link becomes available later in the Spring semester.
     *   CALS is also holding three related events/opportunities (info will be shared through the CALS Graduation Newsletter):
        *   CALS Senior Speaker
        *   CALS Senior Profile Slides
        *   CALS Senior Sendoff
  *   What about the UA Exit Survey?
     *   UA Student Engagement & Career Development runs the UA Career Destination Survey. All graduating undergraduate students will receive an email when the survey is live (within 3-4 weeks). In CALS, all undergraduate students who complete the survey will receive a graduation gift courtesy of the CALS Career Center. Info will be shared with students through the CALS Graduation Newsletter.
