[Agvisors] FWD: End of term academic standing

Greetings Agvisors,

Hope this email finds you all well.  Please disregard the email sent to UPAC regarding the end of term academic standing (academic probation) information below.  It was intended to have been sent to UAAC with those details. Take it as an informative email, since it’s still good to know the overall general process.

For the new advisors and friendly reminder to the rest of the advising team, in CALS the process is below:

1.       CALS student academic probation report is run by the college advising office (Nancy).  Report is saved point in time for data analysis.

2.       Academic Standards Committee reviews the list and lists a recommendation letter for each student:

a.       1  = Disqualification

b.       2 = 1st time probation

c.       2a = 1st time probation, change to NMS in CALS to help them with major exploration

d.       3 = Continuing on probation

e.       4 = Congratulations for demonstrating academic progress during semester, but still continue on probation (term GPA of 3.0 or higher)

f.        5 = Congratulations for attaining good academic standing (usually sent on separate report from Spring 2019 contract database)

g.       6 = Courtesy semester (have one additional term to demonstrate significant academic progress to prevent disqualification

h.       6a = Courtesy semester, change to NMS in CALS to help them with major exploration

3.       A memo is sent to each department academic advisor and unit head/director with the Academic Standards Committee recommendations for their review. This term the memo and recommendations will be sent by Tuesday 5/21.

4.       The department academic advisors review their students with the recommendation, and provide confirmation or modifications to Nancy.  The follow up email to CALS (Nancy) from the departments will be due by Tuesday 5/28 at 12pm.

5.       Any student disqualifications are entered by Nancy.  Email notifications are sent to all students on the next steps affiliated with their academic status on behalf of the college. The UA Registrar’s also notifies students that are disqualified.

Students enrolled in pre-session are allowed to complete the session even if a disqualification is recommended and processed. All students will be notified of their status prior to the beginning of Summer Session I.   If you have any questions in the interim please let me know.

Hi there!

Just a reminder that as of yesterday, probation reports are available in Analytics.  I’ve attached the direction on the Processing of Academic Standing in the system for your reference!  The due date for this process is 5:00pm on May 29.  I will begin processing UDQs the morning of Thursday, May 30.
